NO EXCUSE WHEN IT COMES TO THE WORK OF GOD - MINISTER TO LAY OFFICERS

Story: Emmanuel Ashong, Mamprobi

The Superintendent Minister of the Mamprobi South Circuit of The Methodist Church Ghana, the Very Rev Aaron Gaisie-Amoah, has admonished new Circuit and Society Officers of the Lay Movement Council to eschew excuses in the discharge of their duties.

According to him, “We don’t have any excuse when it comes to the work of God” stressing, “You don’t have any excuse to be late for meetings; you don’t have any excuse to absent yourself from meetings; you don’t have, because now that you have become a disciple, your time belongs to God, your money belongs to God, everything about you [belongs to God]”.

Very Rev Gaisie-Amoah was speaking at a joint Induction Service for new Officers of the Mamprobi South Circuit and Gethsemane Society Lay Movement Councils held on Sunday, September 04, 2022 at the Gethsemane Methodist Chapel, Mamprobi.

The Service was witnessed by Officers of the Accra Diocesan Lay Movement Council, led by Diocesan Lay Chairman-elect Bro Joseph Eduam. He was accompanied by Vice Chairman-elect, Sis Henrietta Angmor; Secretary-elect, Bro Emmanuel Effah-Dennis and Assistant Secretary-elect Bro Samuel Quartey Jnr.

The newly inducted Circuit Officers have Bro Ebenezer Otabil as Chairman and Sis Flora Atta-Gilbert as Vice-Chairman. The others are Bro Frank Spencer Forson, Secretary; Bro James Amoah, Assistant Secretary; Bro Alex Asiedu, Treasurer and Sis Lydia Otoo, Organiser. The Immediate Past Chairman, Bro Michael Nelson is also a member of the new executive body.

For the Society level, Sis Mary Decker is the new Chairman with Bro Joseph Rockson as her Vice Chairman. The rest are Bro Eric B. Mensah, Secretary; Sis Pearl Deveer, Assistant Secretary; Bro Isaac Moore, Treasurer and Bro Albert Anyan, Organiser. Bro Kenneth Bray is the Immediate Past Chairman.

Very Rev Gaisie-Amoah charged congregants to undertake to support the new Officers through prayer and fellowship.

In a brief remark, Sis Henrietta Angmor, told the new Officers that, "You have been elected to serve the people called Methodists. You are serving them and not to lord over them". She noted that it is difficult serving people "but with patience, I know you will be able to do it".

The Lay Movement has a mandate to mobilise lay persons within The Methodist Church Ghana to assist in the implementation of the Church’s decisions and coordinate the work of the various organisations within the Church.

The new Officers will serve a three-year term of office.
