EASTER MONDAY GAMES BOUNCES BACK WITH GREAT EXCITEMENT

After a two-year suspension due to the outbreak of the
corona virus disease, Easter Monday Fun Games and Picnics bounced back in the
various Societies within the Accra Diocese of The Methodist Church Ghana on
Monday, April 18, 2022.
Not even the torrential rainfall in many parts of Ghana’s
capital could stop members from celebrating the day which was characterised by
sporting competitions and fun games among the various Organisations within the
Church as well as among Societies within the Circuits as witnessed by Prince
Attah at the Mamprobi South Circuit Easter Monday Games which came off at
the Mamprobi AstroTurf Park. The Circuit Superintendent, the Very Rev Aaron
Gaisie-Amoah prayed for the commencement of the games which started with an
aerobics session. Also present was the Circuit Minister, the Rev Richard
Bradley Foli and the Very Rev Mrs Naana Esi Dannyame, the Minister in-Charge of
the Rev I. K. Asuamah Memorial Methodist Church, located within the Mamprobi
South Circuit.
Members participated in games like oware, ludo,
draught, pick the ball, fill the bottle and sack race. A football match between
Gethsemane Society and Rev I. K. Asuamah Thompson Memorial Society ended in a
4-1 victory for the latter, who also emerged the overall winners of the entire
games.
In the neighboring Mamprobi Circuit, members of
Nazareth Society, Mamprobi and Galilee Society, Chorkor had separate events to
mark the day, reports Nii Hansen Mettle. Singing competitions, penalty shoot
outs, lime and spoon, musical chairs and balloon in the cup were among the
activities undertaken at the Nazareth Society. The Singing Band won the top
award for the day which was presented by the Superintendent Minister, the Very
Rev Samuel K. Quartey. The day’s activities were climaxed with a float by the
Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade around the Church’s environs amidst brass band music
and the display of placards. Similar activities were held at Galilee Society
where ‘Team White’ won the ultimate prize.
It was a picnic at the Rev Joseph Thomas Clegg
Memorial Society in the Kaneshie Circuit where members enjoyed a buffet and
participated in ludo, draught and playing cards - a game Superintendent
Minister, Very Rev Daniel Kpabitey and Very Rev Samuel Nii Nmai Ollenu, a
Minister in the Circuit could not resist participating in, reporter Derrick
Ankamah observed. Members of the Children’s Ministry were not left out as
they participated in musical chairs.

Egyakwa Amusah reports that at the Calvary Society in the Accra North
Circuit, it was a ‘Meet-Me-Here’ affair as the various Church Organisations
sought to outwit each other with the preparation of sumptuous local dishes for
members amidst live band music by Calvary Jewels, the resident Gospel Band. Circuit
Minister, the Very Rev Christopher Atta Cudjoe won a musical chairs competition
on the day which also saw members donate blood to support the National Blood
Bank.
From the Rev Peter Quaye Dagadu Memorial Society in
the Osu Circuit, the Easter Monday Games dubbed the Gladys Eunancy Dagadu Fun
Games were held among day borns in the Church, reports Enoch
Quarcoo. From food competition to playing cards, football and
table tennis which saw the active participation of Superintendent Minister,
Very Rev Godson N. A. Akushie, members keenly competed against each other for
the top position.
Accra Circuit Superintendent Minister, the Very Rev
Dr Nana Kwesi Bart-Plange was in the thick of affairs as members of the Wesley
Society took to the Mamprobi Girls’ School Park in a football match that ended
in a 1-1 draw among five years plus married men on one side and minus five years
old married men and singles on the other side, reports Joseph Abbey. Back
at the premises of the Wesley Cathedral, Accra, members were treated to live
band music and other fun competitions among the various Church Organisations.
Inter-organisational women’s penalty kicks, lime
and spoon race, tag of peace, bouncing castle and musical chairs were among
activities undertaken by Adabraka Circuit Head, the Rev Ernest Bruce Memorial
Society during their celebration of Easter Monday, Ebenezer Osabutey reports.
Featuring prominently on the day was a dancing session between the clergy and
the Stewards. The Boys’ and Girls’ Bridge won the musical chairs competition
while the Methodist Youth Fellowship was victorious in the penalty kicks.
